| Abstract: | The natural language of deaf & dumb people is sign language. Development of a system which translates their hand gestures into text and voice is an ideal way to facilitate them to communicate with normal people. For this purpose a special type of glove is used, known as a "data glove". It is connected to the computer. This glove captures the sensors' values from hand, which are then provided at the input of a neural network, which indicates the corresponding gesture. This sequence of gestures is then converted into text and voice by our software. Static signs (postures) of American Sign Language (ASL) are converted into text (and voice) and vice versa.
