Construction site of the future - automation and digitization

Project Description

The construction site of the future - automation and digitization is an interdisciplinary initiative by engineers and computer scientists. Only recently the use of digital data models and processes has been applied in different applications of construction. The focus is currently on the planning processes, production and online data acquisition and use from the building. The TU Kaiserslautern has extensive expertise in digital data models and construction technologies. Industry 4.0 and commercial vehicle technology represent other fields whose research work can flow into the potential area. The second research aspect is the automation of construction sites. The focus here is not only on the automation of construction machinery, but also on the production and testing of new prefabricated elements that are particularly well suited for automatic installation.

By networking these competencies and their application on the new research field of construction sites of the future, the engineering sciences can take their social responsibility in an important area of application. Thus, they are opening up a new, largely undeveloped field of research. The Robotic Research Lab contributes its expertise in the area of automation of construction machines.
