Zhao Jie was born on September 26, 1983 in Cili, Hunan province, China. He studied the Bachelor degree in Measurement and Control Technology & Instruments from 2001 to 2005 at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China. In 2010, Zhao Jie graduated as a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with the specialization in control engineering from University of Kaiserslautern. Since September 2010 he is a Ph. D student of the University of Kaiserslautern. His research topics focus mainly on the control and stability analysis of bipedal dynamic locomotion. He is now participating in the H2R – Integrated Approach for the Emergence of Human-like Robot Locomotion project.
