Patrick Vonwirth and Karsten Berns have been presented with the "Highly Commended Paper"-award on this year's edition of the  "International Conference Series on Climbing and Walking Robots and the Support Technologies for Mobile Machines" (CLAWAR) for the paper "Bio-inspired Imprecise Impedance Control of Muscle-driven Robotic Limbs". The aim of the work presented here is to better understand behaviors and control approaches that can be observed in nature and to transfer their principles to artificial, technical systems. Specifically, a simple control architecture was developed, with which the robotic leg CARL can be controlled with selectable stiffness and precision on the basis of artificially emulated muscles.

Our gratulations!
