New Lecture "Offroad-robotics" starts the 25.10.

Dear upcoming roboticists and students of Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU), the first lecture on "off-road robotics" starts the 25th of October at 08:15 - 09:45 a.m. in room 48-210.

The lecture addresses the different aspects of autonomous off-road driving.
1) Starting with the challenges of the off-road domain compared to on-road navigation.
2) I teach you about the specific aspects of hardware to create robust machines.
3) Sensors, such as cameras, lidar, or radar, are an important topic and essential for environmental perception
4) You learn how you can learn from human perception to increase the robustness of your robot perception
5) You learn the most important algorithms for autonomous off-road driving
6) I teach you different architectural designs and compare the sense-plan-act paradigm to behavior-based methods such as behavior trees or the integrated behavior-based control architecture
7) Finally, you learn the basics of safety engineering for autonomous machinery, which helps you argue why the robot you designed and the perception solutions are safe.
